When going from second gear, my bug will shake. Same thing in second if i shift around 20 mph or so. (i can normally shift at 30) Unless i keep my RPMs fairly high when going, my bug will jitter. Sort of a shake. Could it be loose tranny? my front bearings are brand new, i have new tires up front, uuhhhh i know how to drive, and this didnt happen until recently. I don't think my driving ways have changed. Any ideas? Thanks ~Peace~Justin

What about the bushings? did you check them?
I have a similar problem. My engine needs some jetting work and it has a hesitation problem just off idle. It feels like it bucks.. cause it is.. the tranny mounts are good, but my engine just needs some tuning..
advice: clean your carb and replace your fuel filter.
but the engine runs great... and the front bushings are new...
Steering damper?...cheap, and amazing how much effect it can have?
