Just installed my new wheels and tires

.....a 205/65/15 fit the rear perfectly on a 6" wide wheel. (the guy who sold it to me measured it and said it was closer to 6" than

5.5"....I wonder which is right) My 73 std. now has 185/65s up front and 205/65s in the rear on Porsche 2.0 rims. Looks fantastic.

Those wheels and tires combined with my new front and rear anti-roll bars make the car handle like a go-kart. It's amazing. The thing just goes where you point it.

For the archives, the wheels I used had +35mm offset. That is the perfect offset to use. The tires don't stick out past the fender at all, and they're not too far in. It's JUST right! (stock fenders) Also, I decambered the front suspension. I made my own camber wrench from a piece of 2" by 10" 3/16" thick steel. I made a cutout in the side of the steel (not the 2" wide side...but on the end of the 10" wide side) that is 1.25 inches deep and 36mm wide. Worked like a charm...just a little tight on space to move it. I could only turn the camber bushing about 1/8 turn at a time before having to reverse the wrench.

For everyone who told me a 205 was too big for the rear...........try to keep up with me on the next twisty road. It doesn't look pinched in at all, and the mounting guys had NO problems putting it on. HOWEVER....these were Kumho tires. I have heard that Kuhmo's tires are narrower than some others....? How can this be if they are 205s? That means the cross section of the width is 205mm.

Anyway the car looks and handles fantasticly now. I'm quite happy with the results. Happy VW-ing!
