my 68 vw beetle

my 68 vw beetle has no acceleration at all, i just got it running last night after 3 months of sitting in my drive way. i adjusted the timing, all new spark plugs, new coil, new distributor cap,and new point. so i started it up and put it in 1st, but it just putted down the street,at about 5 mph's, one of the spark plug wires dont fit right...but that wouldnt make it go so damn slow would it? please help me out...and my exhaust is much louder than before...

Sounds to me like you may have put the wires on wrong (swapped two) when you changed the cap, and I assume rotor. Was it running badly before you changed any of those items? Did it run great/good before your 3 month of stagnation? How long has the gas been in the tank? But I'm still a learning VW nut with plenty of projects to make mistakes on. I'm sure you will get more answers as people are getting up for work.

Sounds like you may have messed up the firing order of the spark plugs. 1,4,3,2.

Matt? Pick up The Idiots Guide by Joh Muir. Look at your engine. Front right ( front of car, right passenger side U.S.) is #1. Back right is #2. Front left is #3. Back left is. . .? Exactly. #4. Now go to distributor cap. Pull off clips and look for a little notch on the aluminum distributor housing lip where the cap just was. That notch should be lined up with #1 plug wire. Now go clockwise around the cap. 432 Colin

ya when i bought it, it ran perfect.the gas is just under half a tank, however the gas thats in it has been in for 3 months..

ok firing order worked now theres a crazy oil leak..not from the gaskets further about inbetween...im thinking its the oil pan? if so i think its cracked how much would it be to fix it?

Nobody is going to answer that accurately. You may have a pushrod tube leak. There is a drop-in pushrod tube available, or you can pull the head to replace all the pushrod tubes, I. . . . can't recommend that just yet. Get yourself a realtime mechanic to look at it. Colin

now my E break is broken from the the puller between the seats any one know hot fix it?

Get thyself a manual post-haste. It is an involved process but simple enough. Colin
