For some of you guys that have helped me out and just for any others that want to see my bug here is a link to it.

have worked long and hard getting it back on the road after it had been dumped in a lake and then set for 3 years. Not while I had it but from the guy that I got it from. Now if I could just fix the overheating problem I would almost be set. I just can't seem to get the oil to flow through the cooler and filter. I put the cooler on the outside thinking that the heat from the engine was causing it but then I found that the oil was not flowing. I replaced the filter thinking that it may have collapsed and still the same thing. I am now at a complete loss and now it is getting up into the 90's and that is no help at all.

Hi,

I'm new to beetles, and haven't learned much. But is there an oil pump, or is it supposed to flow with convection currents. If there's a pump, check the pump. If not, sorry for posting.

Thanks, Mark Tuck

It has a very good oil pump that will put out 100lb's of pressure on startup. Once it warms up it holds 55 to 60 lb's driving down the road. It is just for some reason the oil is not going through the cooler or oil filter. Because of that it gets very hot in a short time, 230deg. in about

10 miles. If you look at the photo's you will see that I have a gage for about anything that is needed for a car. Now my airplane has a few more but then I could go in many differant directions with it and lots of radio gear.

Maybe you have a stuck oil pressure valve, pulley end, or a stuck oil control valve, flywheel end, or both.
