Optima battery in a 72 Super

Hey, I'm sure this has been overdone - but after looking at a rusty battery box due to a leaky battery - I'm swapping to an Optima - but their website does not show a reference for a 72 Super. Why would that be unless they are physically larger? I could use any advice. Thanks, I'm learning the car as I go!

When the Optima folks made their reference table, a 72 super beetle or any other aircooled VW was no longer mainstream. Nothing pre-1990 was, and when out of some strange pity or as a freak curiosity they decided to include a REALLY REALLY OLD, WEIRD CAR in there, they chose a 1986 Subaru. :) (just a wild guess).

I'm sure you can use an Optima in a beetle. Their dimensions are roughly the same as any other battery. And a beetle has lots of room for one too. Pay attention to how you secure the battery to the floorpan, and make sure you put a rubber mat or something over the terminals. They could hit the seat springs if they are unprotected and cause a massive short, and a fire when someone sits in the back :)

I've got a 6V Optima in a 1959 Beetle. It is installed on its side so the terminals will not come into contact with the seat springs.
