The trigger magnets on the Compufire module have a wider radius, hence greater accuracy. But that said, the Pertronix have a better build quality, so go with the latter, the prices are about the same.

If you want a noticeable difference you need a CDI module/box as well, I use a Tiger unit from Universial Industries. Makes for easier starts in all weather.

What is a CDI box exactly? What does it do?

I'v ordered a few things from aircooled (disk brakes and other parts) and have been VERY happy. Exceeded my expectations with assistance (thanks John) quality and speed in shipping.

Capacitor Discharge Ignition, basically it amplifies the voltage going to the coil to about 400V, stock coil works just fine. A rotor without the built in resistor is recommended though, that and re-gapping your plugs to 1mm.

I agree, go with Pertronix. It's a much better built unit and it doesn't have some of the design flaws of the Compufire (Or Accufire, which is really the same product). RPM range is not an issue, I have used many many units on the street and in race cars, and they keep up beautifully past 9000rpms. Spark timing is smooth and solid, it does not jump around.

And yea... CDI is nice.
