quick photo's of the 74 autostick bug my mom just got

she paid a little bit more then i would have, but all in all i would say it is in decent shape ... has a leak in the gas tank .. already have it out to patch up .. and owner said the fuel pump was bad so going ahead and putting another one on (already had one on the shelf) ...

there is an unusual part sitting just below the carb that i haven't a clue what it is tho ... and i am assumin that the extra peice next to the doghouse with the hoses is for the autostick tranny.

(give me a manual gearbox anyday!, but hey my mom is in her mid 60's and just wants to drive a bug again)

The unusual part is the (remains) EGR valve that '74 had.

Yes, the thing on the left is the vacuum control valve for the autostick clutch diaphragm.

I say she didn't do bad. I have 5500 already in my Super (not including tools) and hers looks better than mine.

The thing that bothered me was he only had one pic, very little description for a 3500 dollar car. But I like how you took a bunch of pics :-) I hope to see the car driving around town. I know their are a few Classic VW owners in Pine Bluff area but I hardly see them on the road.

ah yeah i forgot 74 had the egr junk ... i had a 74 super in highschool but i never messed with the motor much .. it ran so i couldn't see messin with it (back then, i am different now) ...

i was iffy about paying that much for it, but she really wanted it so we took the risk .. it did turn out to be a decent purchase ... i would say that the car had either been restored once already ... or was one of those 'garage kept' cars untill recently ... mostly a few little things here and there, and figuring out where the leak is that has some water in the floorboard ...

my mom has already been out on it today dryin the water out of the floor and sanding the rust down to spray it with rust inhibitor and so forth ... my step father has the fuel tank off to patch a small hole in it .. and we got the fuel pump on already ... so soon it will be time to change the oil and plugs and see if it will start up ...

you can bet that this car will be driven daily .. even if she does noth> I say she didn't do bad. I have 5500 already in my Super (not
