Check your ground for the light. It might be corroded. I couldn't tell you where it is as I have not taken mine apart yet.

One end of the bulb has 12V all the time. The other end goes to a SPDT switch (center Off). In one position of the switch, the bulb is grounded and lights all the time (the ground is thru the mounting snap).

In the other switch position, ground is obtained thru the door switch contact.

Try a jumper wire ground to the end of the bulb where the switch is. Still no light, either the bulb is bad, bulb contacts corroded OR the fuse has a high resistance (corroded) contact.
