Speaking of Oil Bath Filters

It is, to teh centerline of the CAR

Irrelevant, the corner mounted air cleaner on a stock bus is attached to the car body securely, engine movement won't be transmitted to it. Forget engine movement, look at total vahicle movement instead. And only side to side in this case. Front to back rocking is something we can't control to any significant degree, because all of the suitable locations for the air filter will be at the rear of the car.

Probably yes. The further from the center point you go, the more movement you get. I haven't tried your "drawing a circle" method, but it just seemed to me that cantemounted filter would be closer to teh center point of movement (where the movement is minimal) and teh corner mounted filters would be further away from it. They'd be on the far corners, AND high up. The centermount would just be above the said point, just as high. They won't fit on the same "circle" rim.

I see what you are thinking. (you dirty boy you)

The thing I'm trying to explain is the reason why off road vehicles prefer centermounted carburators. The fuel in the carb bowl gets thrown around and sloshes uncontrollably in corner mounted configurations. Life is more peaceful at the center.

Anyway, this all started from a discussion of air fliter location in a street driven BUS. I just mentioned the sloshing problem as a curiosity, I don't think it really would be a problem unless the vehicle was used for racing.... :)
