VW Bug Rims & Tire Question.

Where is the best and cheapest place to buy new VW bug rims? Almost all of mine have rust on them and some are mis-matched. I don't need anything fancy. How much am I looking to spend for all 4 rims?

Also yesterday I went to get 4 used 165 R15's but couldn't find any but was told 195 R75's would work so that is what I got. When I goto get new tires which should I get 165 R15's or will 195 R75's work?

I would always prefer to work with aircooled.net because the owner, John, answers mail. He is a man of few words, always to the point; you learn what you need to learn. He's corrected a couple orders of mine to be sure I got the right stuff.

You might still need studs and nuts and caps; about $5 a set for studs, $10 a set for nuts.

You might want to look for used rims from a '70-76 VW Porsche 914 - most models came with 5 1/2x15" 4 lug rims. The extra width gives better stability - since the normal 4/4 1/2" rims took 155x16 tires. You can still get the 165x15 tires. Try Cooper tire or Coker or CIP1. Runsty rims can be easily sand blasted and repainted too.
