What's wrong with my engine?

It runs like a dream! I feel left out.

Mine does too, except for the flickery gen light and the oil dribbling out at an alarming rate... but it's smoother than ever!

I loosened all the head bolts on mine and it now purrs like a kitten.

..................Here's what's wrong with it.

.........You didn't pay only $2 k for it along with a solid driving bug to ride around in like I did. My bug came with ProCar seats, a Blaupunkt Nevada stereo, a four year old black polyurethane paint job, a Gene Berg 1679 with only 8000 miles on it, new brakes, etc., etc. It doesn't lose any oil. It's never failed to start or get me to my destination. Since Earle Horton sold it to me nearly two years ago, it has proven to be more reliable and trouble free than my wife's accord, my daughter's altima, my oldest son's vanagon, and my winter driver (nissan 4x4).

I have one of those - a pearl of a pristine '72 never driven even in the rain. It's perfect because I never, ever drive it. I'd sell it but damned if I want someone else to enjoy the same good luck.

But everybody here should know that you bought your Bug from a friggin space-cadet, hippy, airhead MILLIONAIRE. He made over a million bucks a year. So you got a gift. You really did.

Tim, I wouldn't go 'round braggin' on anything Blaupunkt.............at least the new stuff anyway. I haven't seen anything built by them in so many years, that's worth buying, I don;t remember when it was...............They are just slightly better than Sparkomatic in my experience.

Back in the late 80's they built some decent stuff, but it was truely high end Car audio of the time, and was outta sight in price...............the rest of the car sounds nice though..........LOL!.............

( I'm just tuggin' your string for the most part, Tim )

It's is not, it isn't ain't, and it's it's, not its, if you mean it is. If you don't, it's its. Then too, it's hers. It isn't her's. It isn't our's either. It's ours, and likewise yours and theirs. -- Oxford University Press, Edpress News

..............Very true. He gave me the deal of a lifetime and I'll flame the crap out anyone who says anything bad about him.

.................Actually, I'm not that crazy about the sound compared to the alpine unit that I put in my wife's accord. Of course, that car has a fairly nice set of six speakers. I may try to upgrade my bug's speaker set this year if I can come up with some money for it. Maybe I could do a swap with the wife's car........

He had a funny haircut. So there. No wait! He was a friggin liberal. A democrat! Worse, a libertarian! Oh Tim, how COULD you take advantage of that poor man.

...............I had an enjoyable evening at their place and then paid them for their bug in cash........Good food, conversation..........everything seemed perfectly normal. No weird chanting or meditation exercises.

.................Of course, I ended up going to a biker bar down the street later on that night because hippies don't seem to know that three or four beers can make for a perfect evening..............lol

.............Actually, Earle and his wife were very nice and I'm grateful that they put up with me traveling by plane and bus across the country and then driving away with a car that had been part of their family for something like 25 years.

With my rebuilt engine, it seemed to run better every time I drove it. it was my wife's daily driver and I only got to drive each weekend but it seemed to get better every time. I guess it was just getting broken in since she left me when it had 5K on it. Lost it in the divorce. Hope my new bus engine does as well since I will be starting it up for the first time this weekend!

check out lp.org. As far as I can tell, the ideals presented -are- the American way, in all it's truth and justice.
