Just wandering what type of Tranny fluid to put in my beetle. The books says Dexron II. Is Dexron III ok??

I would say yes(that is a "guess") as i understand it in the dextron/mercon lineup each number up is an improvement and replacement on the one before it...i just an hour ago bought mercon/dextron V for my workvan, because it also helps with "torque converter shudder"...my van only requires III....YMMV J
