Wooo hoooo ! Do you remember your 1st time ?

Split my 1st case today :-)

I bought some junk motors a while ago - so I could get some experience rebuillding them.

This is a 1200 with a blown piston.

Split the case tonight :-) there's all sorts of metal bits inside - piston , and I think bearing shell !

I was very suprised that the con rods were completly dry ! is that normal ?

Anyhow, I'll get some diesel tomorrow and start cleaning everything up.

My plan is to get enough bits together, free or cheap as poss, to rebuild it and start it up - not expecting it to last very long at this stage - judging by the amount of debris in there, but I might change my mind, and do it properly if it all cleans up well !

I have 3 others to rebuild (maybe more than once ! ) to gain more experience, before I try and build my daily.

I did two bug engines thus far. My first time my heart was beating in my throat as I opened the case up

- fun stuff.

Was even more fun to carefully bolt it all back together and have it start up using Bob Hoover's notes, a rebuild book and the bugme video.
