2001 V70 power Brake servo

Recently I hear a hissing sound when I release the brake peddle. It is coming from the end or the power brake servo that is under the dash and will stop after a short while and usually when I tap the brake peddle. What am I in for a fix? The braking doesn't seem to be affected.

Thanks JAY

..what about a leaky cruise control hose at the brake pedal switch.....? Booster is first choice, but I was wondering if the cruise control was operating properly.

Ever bleed brakes and never have them come up very sell, only to remove the booster and find it was full of brake fluid? "HEY!? How come this booster is so heavy? Arghhh! There goes a good pair of shoes!" ;-)

Jay,

I also have this problem on my 2001 V70 XC. I just bought it, and am new to Volvos. Can you tell me what happened with yours? What ended up being the solution? Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks! Jeremy

There are no vacuum parts in the cruise control on the ETM (electronic throttle module) equipped cars (1999-). And this chassis (S80, S60, V70 new style) has frequent failures of the brake booster in this manner.
