20MPG :( with 240 sedan Brisbane Australia

she goes a lot better, the 240 that is :)

i checked the little box under the bonnet with the codes in it and reset it by disconnecting the battery, so i got 1,1,1 . . all ok . . . .

then i went for a good rive and the consumption seems heaps better, but won't know untill i have use approx 50liters, and see what mileage i did . . . .

i did notice that there was a code in the little black box on number 2 terminal after going for a good rive, was . . . 2,3,1 . . . . . do i have a Bosch LH2.4 or Regina fuel injection, its an 89 240 gl sedan? and there is only the letter 'A' on the box, which i think means an earlier model.

if its a Regina, then i think it means:- 2-3-1 Self-adjusting oxygen sensor not operating Intake air or fuel system

otherwise Bosch LH2.4:- 2-3-1* Fuel trim (lambda control) too lean or too rich at part load }If too lean: air leaks, low fuel pressure, bad sensor }Engine stops when starting from cold; high fuel use or Fuel trim (lambda control) too rich at part load Oxygen sensor

i got this info from :-

240 had a new lamda sensor and airflow meter put in it the other day. any ideas what i should do next :)

thanks guys for your input, has been very helpful :)

Unless things are different in AU, you've got Bosch injection. You can tell easily, the Regina system lacks an air mass meter.

much better fuel consumption now . . . . 50liters to 500ks, thats better . . . . getting the injectors cleaned and main seal in the engine fixed, for an oil leak.

thanks for all your input guys :)
