Hi all,

My sister is about to replace her '87 Volvo 760 GLE and pass it on to me ;), and I'm helping her find the right car for her.

We've tested:

1998 S70 Turbo, great shape, low kms, really cheap -> but have read Lemon Aid reviews about safety and reliability issues
1999 S80 T6 Twin Turbo, really nice car, also a great buy -> have read horror stories in Lemon Aid regarding reliability issues, only on the 1999s

The 99 S70 gets great reviews, the S80 in 2000, well, ?!? a little bit better.

She's also driven a

2000 Saab 95 Aero (there was a 93 Viggen 2door that I had my eye on for me! ;)
1999 Audi A6 Quattro 2.8

cylinder working

2000). The S80

The sooner she

for a winter

I bought a 1998 V70 T5 new, and had such good luck with the car that I also bought a used 1998 S70 T5 in March 2002. Both have been great cars, but if you plan on relying on dealer service, I wouldn't recommend buying one.

I have a 98 S70 T5 and it's been a great car. I have replaced one battery and one headlight and one taillight in 5 years. However, I'm noticing a little transmission howl on colder mornings and hope it's not fatal. Dealer service here appears to be okay, but I have no real experience with them. I would buy another if they were available. Now that FORD owns them it's anybody's guess.
