Engine Differences?

Yikes, those are some very pricey engines, have you looked into having the one you have rebuilt? The B23 is an older, somewhat stronger design, the B230 is more fuel efficient and slightly weaker, at least the older ones are, but both are good motors. What fuel system do you have?

Ah, the price sort of stunned me as well. Not sure where you're from, but cars in Australia tend to be more expensive than Europe or the US, I think the UK as well.

I checked having it rebuilt, about the same prices apply. Don't know what the parts would cost if I did it mayself, I haven't pursued that avenue yet BUT there's an inherent risk in my abilities to also take into account. I would start looking for an engine from a wrecked car first.

It is a fuel injected system and it is designed for unleaded petrol.

So same as the cars here in the US. If it didn't cost so much to ship, I could get you a good running motor with relatively low miles for probably around $200.

At the prices he's quoting, it might be well worth the shipping.

'85 was the first year of the low friction B230 series (as opposed to the old B23), and for us in Australia was also the last year of the E engines.
