market news this morning says that ford is seeking to do exactly that. apparently no one else has the money or interest.

Both Swedish car makers (Volvo and Saab) are having huge losses. Saab has lost money 19 of the last 20 years, and are most likely bankrupt without financial support from the Swedish government. They have said that that support is not an option. Volvo cars also have a challenging future, but will probably last longer
than Saab. Anyway, I would analyze risk of loosing warranty if buying a new Volvo.
Ford isn't selling Volvo to China. They may sell it to Geely, which is a car manufacturer in China. How would you lose a warranty if ownership is sold again?
