1993 volvo 850 GLT. the courtesy lights in the door jambs stay on after the doors are closed. Even after the locks as on and the anti-theft is applied. I need to fix this or they will bleed out my battery. Also, the overhead courtesy lights dont work when the doors are opened. They work manually with the switch, but when placed in [door] mode, they dont light.

That means one of the microswitches in the door locks is bad. You can disconnect each door easily unhooking the plugs near the hinges that are visible when each door is open. When you disconnect the bad one, you know which door to work on.

On my 98 V70 the interior light turns off after a door has been open 15 minutes, since one of your doors is "open", maybe the dome light has just gone to sleep, if your car has this feature.
