My son hit a deer with my 1995 850... it caved in the front pretty good. I found a nice '94 850 to replace it. I've decided to spend some time harvesting some parts from wrecked one... my question, what are the key (read: most expensive) parts that I should be sure to salvage before hauling it to the junk yard?
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

If you have air bags, you might want to remove them. They are mighty expensive. Do it carefully and store them safely. Once I removed the one in my 240 just to have a good look at it. I also unplugged it as it is 15 years old and not interested to invest in a new one.

Are you looking for parts to use on the replacement car? If so I would look for interior and exterior trim parts likely to break or already broken. Engine and trans would certainly be the two priciest replacements, but do you really want that stuff sitting around for an event that may never happen?
Or parts to sell. Engine and transmission come to mind, but they may have been destroyed given your description. Other undamaged parts certainly have a potential value, but finding a buyer may take time - as in a couple of years. Is it worth the effort?
