Timing Belt on 98 C70

I'm going to replace the timing belt over Thanksgiving - I took the cover out the other day, the belt looks fine, no missing teeth, just some fine rust-like powder all over. The car has 85K but I don't have any records indicating it was changed at 70K as recommended. This has the later, mechanical type belt tensioner. Anything I should watch out for, or take care of while doing this?

Thanks,

Rob

All in all its a pretty straight forward job and should be easy enough if you are handy with tools and have some mechanical knowledge. Only thing I have had issues with is getting the exhaust cam one tooth out on reassembly but if you mark all the pulleys using nail varnish or something and mark the appropriate location on the block/head too and then check check and recheck after assembly you should be fine. I usually pop the spark plugs out and wind the engine over by hand a few times after installing the belt and then recheck the belt tension before starting the engine too.

Good luck!
