I have an 04 Passat with 24,000 miles. Country roads, no commute, little traffic. When I apply the brakes I get an incredible vibration. It feels like the rotors are warped. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. David

I'm starting to get just a hint of that on my '03 with 17K miles. Only happens when I brake lightly, doesn't occur under hard braking.

There are two likely causes.
A. The ABS is kicking in. Is this under slippery conditions?
B. The rotors are warped. Had any tyre work or work involving removing the wheels lately?
rear rotors & may be warranty.
Really? Known/typical B5 problem?

We have replace more than what would be considered normal. But I think it's limited to a certain production run on rear rotors. Maybe the issue was, vendor, setting in stock/storage too long, or just bad luck. Rotors have a habit of rusting if not used regularly so it's hard to say what caused the issue. Also only looks like 2 wheel drive cars and not the 4-motion. But then again the 4-motion uses a different rotor. See your dealer
Thanks, I'll do that.

Rear rotors in my '03 Passat GLS warped at less than 20K miles. Known problem with these cars, they also seem to wear rear pads and rotors at a higher rate than the fronts.
