1.9 TDI Eurovan issues

I bought a 1994 eurovan camper (westfalia) and I have a few questions.

1=2E9 TDI with ABT kit (90 HP)

The engine (ABL) was working cold, so today I replaced the thermostat and looks like that the problem is solved.

1-I wasn't able to locate G11 coolant so I went to a shop and bought some green coolant but it doesn't mention G11. Do you think that I need to replace the coolant I putted today with G11 stuff?

2- When I engage the 1 gear and release the clutch I notice a vibration all over the van but I can not feel it when I put it on reverse. Any idea about this issue?

3- I also have a small leak on the front of the engine that I can not locate. Does anyone have any clue on the problem?

For the shaking in 1st gear check your motor mounts. If your leak is coolant then you most likely have a cracked plastic fitting on the cylinder head. There's one on the front and another on the side. I have used the "green stuff" in many of my VW's but on my last jetta tdi I got the G-11 stuff for it. If you intend on having your van for a while you might want to find some g-11.

Thanks for your reply Joe,

I will check the mounts but I was adviced that the problem can be also on the clutch. I located G11 and I will replace it It is an oil leak not coolant. May be a sensor. I will have to wash the engine first.

Use G11. Your VW dealer should have it. Mixing coolants isn't always a good idea because mfrs. play with different formulas and mixing them can cause them to turn to glue in your engine unless the old is *completely* flushed out very well.

Engine mount(s) would be my guess since it happens in one direction and not the other.

What is leaking? oil? transmission fluid (auto?)? coolant? power steering fluid?

I bought G11 and I will replace it. Today it went to the inspection and passed. I still have to wait two or more weeks before I can drive it. I bought it in Germany and I'm importing it so I have a lot of legal issues to solve.

Interesting...where are you located? If you're in the US and you successfully import it, i'm sure a lot of us would like to know how, what the steps are, costs, etc. Please share the info when you're done! :)

No, I'm not in US. I live Portugal south Europe. We can import cars from US so I believe that you also can import from Europe.
