When ever i accelerate or brake I get an annoying squeak coming from the shift console. This is the 2nd console, the 1st had the same problem. I've removed it 4 times, put packing foam inside it & around the 2 long tabs that slide in under the radio. It always seems to almost go away then after a day or so the noise comes back.
The console is a thin cheap plastic, if you apply pressure with your hand it will squeak.
Right now I'm driving it with it off & it's nice & quiet. Any 99-04 Jetta/Golf owners have this problem? Is there a fix?
