2005 Jetta TDI - Timing Belt

You probably have seen recommendations to change at 60,000 miles for older TDIs that had a belt rated for a shorter life. Some people install longer life timing belts when they service their older cars.

You are asking the same question for 2 different newer cars. Do you own these cars or are you thinking of owning these cars? If you own them there is a maintenance schedule in the owners manual.

Thanks for the response. One of my son owns the 1.8t and my daughter owns the TDI, both interference engines, unfortunately (no choice on the diesel). I am aware of vw.com's online maintenance schedule, as well as in the owners manual.

well go with what it says in the manual/service schedule from the people that made these cars. but if you want to be anal about, go with 60,000 miles. I'm anal about preventive maintenence. I change fluids every year, even if they don't need it or not.
