'92 cabriolet top slashed

Apparently someone decided my girlfiends Cabby looked better as a full time convertible. The poor thing was up on axle stands while I was replacing the exhaust and had the battery disconnected so no alarm. Unfortunately money is tight so I was looking into doing the top replacement myself. I have seen a couple of sites that list tops and found them on eBay and was wondering if anyone had suggestions or warnings?

I've done it myself on my 81 rabbit convertible so I know that it can be done by a first-timer. Go to the Cabriolet/cabrio group on Yahoo. Join (free) and then you can look at the files. Forrest King has the definitive file there that walks you through the process for the top. It does not cover the headliner or pad so if you are doing those as well you will have to pay close attention to the old ones as you take them off. I have added some pictures there of what it will look like under the top. I recommend that you take many of your own pictures as you take yours off to aid when you go to put the new one on.
