92 Jetta EcoDiesel Head Gasket question...

Feb 24, 2004 1 Replies

For a 1992 VW Jetta EcoDiesel, what would the interval be for the change of a Head gasket? Also, what would be the change interval for a Timing Belt be, and if the timing belt does need to be replaced, what else should be replaced along with the timing belt? And does anyone have any idea what a complete job like this should be in US dollars???

Head gasket should not need routine replacement. Timing belt is usually around

60K miles. Good idea to change the water pump at the same time and probably replace the other belt(s), coolant hoses and t-stat while you have it torn down.
