Gauge issues

ISTR that there's also a sender of some kind on the oil cooler that is inline with the oil filter. It's been a long time since I had my 84, so I can't look at it. I recall something funky about that, though, and it caused warnings.

It _may_ have been that the sensor was in fact for oil temperature, and that's what caused the flashing light. What does your oil temp read? Note that it's the temperature of the oil that, strictly speaking, does the cooling of the engine, so the oil temperature is in fact important, even though nobody normally worries about it.

Hello Oil temp seems to be normal - the car runs great and is not overheating.... just the flashing LED - it must be something electrical - but the gauge works and there is only one wire from the sender - maybe something inside the cluster? can't find and answer in the bently and the haines manual suggests a faulty ignition switch. Seems odd... would like confirmation before ripping that apart..

I will try that... but it doesn't look easy. I have read as many posts as I can on this issue and there does not seem to be a difinitive answer to this problem. It seems to show up over many models and years but there is no "one" answer to this issue. I am pretty sure that I have eliminated all the obvious choices - it is now down to someone giving me a specific to try that is out of the norm.
