Hi there :(

Recently purchased a 98 golf 1.9 tdi , great motor but..............

the other day whilst driving the oil light came on and the engine cut out whilst doing around 70 mph on the motorway. Checked oil that was fine. So this morning five mins into my journey the battery light has come on and th engine has staeld ( not starting up for another 5 mins) then once on the motorway at about 50 mph the same happened again the oil light pops on a a few beeps from the ( i presume computer) the rev counter goes down and the engine is staeld. Had it rigged up to one of those little computer things and it has says no faults with car ??? plz could some one throw some light on this if possible. Also before both times of this happening i have not driven the car the day before all the trouble happens but the day after it drives fine ?????????????????

If you believe the oil level is fine, and that the oil pump, etc. are working properly, I would change relay 109. This small relay controls about a dozen vital car functions and, in pre-2002 models, has a consistent record of failing because of poor construction quality. The key symptom is that the car suddenly stalls and won't start again for a few minutes. Here is one source:
