Heated seats 98 Cabrio

Dec 09, 2006 1 Replies

My wife's 1998 Cabrio has lost most of the heat in the seats. There is a weak bit of heat up near the middle of the back on the drivers side-- but nothing anywhere else.

I'm not into upholstering anything- so I'm thinking my best choice this time of year might be to find a junkyard seat & if that heater is no good, just send a seat at a time out to be re-heated & upholstered. The leather in the current seats is pretty good for a 9 yr old car-- but not perfect. The rest of the car looks good enough to warrant new leather.

Before I do that, though, I wonder if the OEM heated seats were as good as my 2001 Impala? It is too hot for my butt on high- I have to turn it down after my wife drives it.

Or would I be better off going with a seat cover with heat for the winter? [any thoughts on a good one?]

Thanks, Jim

I don't know the specifics of your car, but I would suggest you think about perhaps the control being the problem. That seems like an easier fix.

Does the car have a heater on the front passenger seat? If so, comparing things to that seat would seem worthwhile.
