jetta 90 door hinges

I am trying to remove the doorhinges pins to replace by new ones , but I can not remove them, are they supposed to go out by the top or by the down side? sorry for my english

trying to replace old door pins but it isseems very difficult to do, any trick? I would appreciate some help thanks
