Looking for a part if anyone has a parts car or a solution to the problem

My driver side front window cable for the electric window snapped. Anyone have one or a quick was to fix. I was thinking throttle cable may work, has anyone fixed this before without spending $180 at the dealership?

What year car? If it's a 99.5 and up jetta they have a new 7 year unlimited miles warranty from a class action suit. If it's a A2 platform, yes I've done it several times. Hardware stores have small cable and farrel things. If you take your time it can be done successfully. Also try a independent parts store, they're cheaper.

88 to be exact. My only problem is that I took it out of the car and it had already snapped. Do you know the exact length of cable I need?

Shop around at the other VW dealers because you can just get the regulator with out the motor!

Woodchuck, that is the price without the motor, I called back and specified without motor and the guy said "it's just the regulator" and remember this is in Canadian Dollars. It's a bloody rip off that dealerships want so much for 2 cables and some rubber.

Being an employee of VW, dealers don't set the prices. Pricing is set by VWC or in the U.S., VWoA. Dealers have no say in how much part XYZ is...

Well Pete if you are employee, c*ck up to the plate and get me a super deal on a new one- i'm thinking with the materials and labour the part is worth about $40 and VW makes $140.

In the USA bucks that's about $117 list. Got another question about Canadian pricing as compared to us down here.? In the USA minimum wage is $5.35 per hour and this is what most young kids get paid for working at places such as McDonalds, Burger King, and other fast food places. What's the wage for such a job in Canada? I just can't figure out why our prices are so far apart since we are neighbors!

min wage in saskatchewan is $6.65 i think. that would be about the golden armpit pay bracket.

Woodchuck, the minimum wage in Canada varies from province to province. Employment Standards are under provincial jurisdiction.

In Ontario it is $6.85.
