Plastic undercarriage cover(s) for MKIV Golf

A few months back I had one of the plastic undercarriage covers tear and start dragging. I put it back up, but it came back down, rinse , repeat.

Anyway, at my last oil change I guess it was beyound the point of repair and the tech removed it - tore it off (damn quick lube places - I will be doing oil changes myself from now on) and I just noticed it missing.

So I want to get a new one. My golf is a 99.5, and I read that it is actually 3 different pieces. Does anyone know the part number(s) for these? Are they easy to put back on (I have a Bentley manual on the way

- but still have virtually 0 experience with this stuff)?

I also read that the new MK4s use a single piece instead of 3. Can I use one of these instead? What is the part number for that?

Finally, if anyone know of any online retailers that sell these I would appreciate the link. I may also try a junkyard too if they are easy to remove.

Thanks for the help,

-Pete

Hi,

Same situation for me and I had my mech replace it. It was fairly expensive @ 300$ and I was told that I'd be back within a year. If I had to do it again I would definitely look into this:

offers a steel version of the lower cover.

Thanks for the link. After reading that site and some posts over at vwvortex, I think I am going to go with this one. Plus reading of some horror stories makes me think the steel one is the best way to go.

Thanks,

-Pete
