Hey Gang,
I finally got around to rotating the tires on my 95 Golf and was surprised to see that the owner's manual states that the tires should be kept on the same side (ie, front back but not to the other side). The Tire Rack info that came with the wheels/tires said that unless the tires were directional (as indicated by an arrow on the side wall) the tires should be rotated to the other side by a variety of schemes for which they provide diagrams. I could find no arrow on my Sumitomo HTR tires so I did a simple "X" rotation. If that wasn't the right thing to do, please let me know about it! I suspect that since VW put directional tires on some of the 1995 cars, they just took the easy way out and recommended that everyone use the same rotation scheme.
