Is there a such thing as VW Factory Remote starts??

I would suspect not because they sell a lot of cars with manual transmissions. You would have to set the parking brake frmly and leave the car in neutral for it to work. Imagine all the calls you would get about that. Also being that they are German, they may follow the European green ideas of minimize polution. Leaving a car to idle to warm up is not very green. My water cooled gas VWs make heat within a mile of leaving home when it is 20F outside. The diesel takes a bit longer. If I lived where it was really cold I would just have a block heater which lets the polution be at the coal fired power plant which is still cleaner than an engine idling. Besides that a diesel could idle for hours and not make any real heat.

Yes, U are right that Diesel Engine takes age to warm the System/Car. It is Standard for VW with Additional Electric Heating or Diesel Burning Heater (as in my Caravelle or EuroVan in N Am ) to solve this Issue.
