VW New Beetle Coolant Warning Light

My VW New Beetle coolant warming light comes on when I turn on the ignition and never goes off. The level in the plastic tank is at the max when cold. I have been told by a VW mechanic that there are several sensors. Which one do I go to if it is a sensor so I don't have to replace several before I get to the right one. Or what else could be wrong if it isn't a sensor. I doubt that it is a blocked radiator or related problem since the car only has 30,000 easy miles on it. Thermostat? If it is the sensor in the bottle is it worth trying to clean the sensing area inside the bottle.

For info on another related post I saw, a while back my coolant warning light would go on when the car started up and go off when the car warmed up. It was just low on coolant.

Thanks.

You'll need to have your ECM and Instrument cluster scanned for faults. Your ECT sensor is likely due for replacement. May I also encourage that you stick with the dealer_genuine_part on this one.

No sure if this helps or not. I had a same problem with my 04' bug. After the dealer playing with it for a week the found it to be a lose connection on the guage cluster. You may want to look at that.

Remove coolant tank without disconnecting any hoses, flip it over and check level sensor and wiring, corrosion in connector possible?
