Just bought a 2000 1.8 TT with 30k miles...

I have wanted one of these for some time, but with the kids and college, etc, etc. Now, it may seem questionable purchasing a car thats already four years old. But a TT with 30k miles for 17,000.00 I could not pass up. Its in immaculate condition. Even the driver's seat doesn't have any creasing in it.

The owner was a Navy pilot always in and out of port; gone six months, back for three and then gone again. He took decent care of it. There are some paint defects, water spotting etc. but al in all a very decent ride. I have not driven a stick for some thirty years but it all came back to me very quickly. And I have gained the wisdom of later age sufficiently to know that I won't have the feel of the car and what it can and can't do for several months yet. The car is rock solid. It felt a little mushy at first so I checked the tire pressure and sure enough they were holding about 28PSI apiece. I bumped it up to forty and it drives like its on rails.

Anyhow, my question is. How bad is this owner experience going to be? I'm thinking of purchasing a set of Bently CDs, but how much trouble am I going to run into with special tools and stuff? Can a good shop do a four wheel alignment or only Audi?

Now, you know he meant Quatro, but no not a quatro. Still its a very stiff flat ride. Not too sure about the ASR. I got into a bit of a jam the just a couple days after the purchase. Two feeders into the top of an over pass. me on the left a dork in a SUV slides across all three lanes from the far left merging feeder and slips into the car and a half opening between me and the third vehicle out in front of me. His passenger saw me even if he didn't. looked just like an owl and waving his arms like a conductor.

Here's a question for you, whats the little flip down panel in front of the dome lightjsut along the top center edge of the front windshield. It kind of gets in the way of the mirro when you pull it down. Got to be a European thing.

It is a screen to block glare inbetween the two main visors. (I had to ask about that also)
