How about Mobile1 5w-20? Can I go 10k miles between changes?

The shop I picked up the case from says regular oil every 3k, Mobile1 every 6k. Just wondering, considering the price per quart.

Thanks

sounds about right on the recomindation. I have used it at everything from

6 to 10 thousand miles depending on eng condition. good tight eng at 10. starting to get some blow by back to 6 to 8. always had good luck. KB

I have, right now, almost 17,000 miles on a Mobil 1 w/ Motorcraft filter oil change in the Taurus. It's still pretty clean (changed 3/24/05) but I hope to change it this weekend. Still full, too, car has 140,000 + miles. 6K should be a breeze - most factory intervals are 7.5K anyway...

That's what I did on the Taurus wagon last weekend, Motorcraft filter and Mobile1. Doing the F150 this weekend. I'd like to go 10k between oil changes, less hassle. I'll have to check the oil more often though.

Thanks!

I normally go WAY over 10k. But try to change filter at about every 6.

BUT it depends on your driving habits... My commute is 50 miles each way...if your longest typical trip is 10 minutes, forget about the mobil 1. Change the oil every 3000 or three months.

Then maybe for the wagon I should ditch the mobile1 and use conventional oil at the next change. My wife uses that car typically for short trips. I'm traveling 20 miles to work each way, about 1/2 hour each trip.

Yeah... remember for those 'short-trip' cars, the big problem is condensation. Which is also why the general rule: 3000 or 3 months

Buy it in 5 qt. jugs to save on $$.

Oil change finally done at 141,126 mi.

18,000 miles. I was pushing it. The oil was not as dirty as the 8K oil in the Honda I changed too.
