cleaning jeep interior

Hi folks,

After a nearly a year riding with the top down, I've decided to put the top back up. Seems like now is a good time to clean the interior before I do so. I plan on armorall-ing the dash and seats but I need to clean them first. As you can imagine there is by now a lot of caked on dirt and grime everywhere. My first stab at it showed that it's not going to be easy. There is a vein-like pattern ingrained in both the dash and seats that the dirt is wedged into and is not coming out easily with standard cleaning products. Anybody got any suggestions?

Thanks,

TC

Small brush and dish soap...

Though I just use a hose and pressure washer inside my CJ7.

I would stay far far away from armorall though. That stuff attacks the finish on everything and forces you to use it continuously or the finish starts disintegrating and cracking. It is nasty stuff.

Armorall is the antichrist. I'm convinced it's produced by the same folks who make car interiors, so they can sell more new cars and new car interiors.

oh god yeah.. stay away from this crap. I used it religeously on my bfgoodrich 245 tires on my cobra(which I sold to buy my Rubi ; ).. ) eventually i noticed the sidewalls were turning almost brown.. and the tread was actually pulling away from the side wall. almost like a dry rot. these tires only had 1000 miles on them !!

armour all = crap

First, Armor-all is heroin for plastic. Once you begin using that crap, you have to keep using it or the stuff you used it on will turn white.

Second, Real Jeeps are never clean, especially on the inside.

Use Formula 303 (look in the boat section for it - if you are in the NW, Fred Meyers carries it, sometimes GI Joes will have it also). You can also get it on line.

Old toothbrush works great for getting the grime out of the cracks and such. sponge and or towel to wipe it up. Might want to hose out the floor (after pulling the drain plugs).

The full name is "303 Aerospace Protectant" MEC carries it in Canada.(Similar to REI in the states.)

I've used it before (thanks to you guys) for my fading fender flares. Good to know it's ok for the interior. I was starting to wonder just what I COULD use.

Oh man, I tried that. It takes a hell of alot of elbow grease just for one spot. It's gonna take forever to do the whole interior.

Besides soap and water is there something safe I could use to maybe loosen things up? There are some spots that look more like muddy stains instead of dirt, and they didn't come out with the usual products.

Thanks for all the responses,

TC
