ABS

Hi

Just done a swivel housing replacement and the ASB light stays on, checked the resistance of the sensor, 970 ohms, same as the other side not touched. I reset the sensor as per manual but the light still stays lit and doesn't flash at switch on. Any ideas other than paying £50 to put it on a testbook??

Peter, I had exactly this problem, the test book indicated that the sensor was only operating correctly about about 10mph, I spent months b*ggering about with it. (Replaced sensors, relays and all sorts) Eventually I checked with the insurance company and stripped the ABS system off completely and fitted a servo/master. Good luck. Cheers, Sam

Thanks for that but after a bit of reading (RTFM) I set the gap as per, and the problem went away.

got a broken sensor on the 4x4 Sierra. it was stuck in it's mounting hole, and I needed the hub carrier off to change the wheelbearing. knocked sensor from hole most carefully, but now it don't work. No facility on this one for gap-setting, so it ain't that. Brakes still work, however...
