Spotlamps bolted to Disco bumper ?

I have some LARGE spotlights as an early Christmas presents and want to get them onto the Disco pronto

Something simple, just bolted on the bumper ? If so, how do I get to the back-side of the bumper to fix the bolt ? Do you have to remove all the trim etc etc ?

Disco 1 or 2?

On the D1 you may be able to get in from behind, as long as you don't have a steering guard. Remember to seal up any holes you drill with paint/silicon etc as it will rust.

Or you could put a damn great roof rack on top and put the spots on the roofrack ;)

What would be the best way to run the electrical feed if you took this option?

That's pretty much the reason I didn't put spots on my damn great roof rack. It seemed a bit messy running cables up the snorkel, and I certainly didn't fancy drilling holes in the roof.

With my CB aerial cable I just ran it up the inside of the A post and out through the door seal. Not perfect but it did the job.

Here's an idea - use the sunroof handle as a 12v feed, and the roof itself as an earth. No drilling!

Even better idea - if Santana take up my great idea of building the Defender successor, perhaps they'd be so good as to put a wiring loom & accessory sockets in the roof as standard. And a patch bay in the cubby box.

usually plenty of gaps on the door seal for cables

all sorted ;-)

Santa's little help has brought me a spotlamp bar - complete with instructions on how to remove the bumper, fit the spot bar and crucially put it all back together again
