Unlikely on a standard Mondeo. My Merc 230 was only H-rated (checked with tyre dealer) and that was capable of well over 100mph.
Unlikely but true.
My 1996 Mk.II Ghia X was supplied with Michelin MVX's - 205/55 R15 V.
To answer the original poster's question: I think that Michelin Exalto are great. Not too noisy, and fairly durable (I get about 25,000 miles out of the fronts, and about 60,000 miles out of the rears!)
Cost: about 70 per tyre (Micheldever Tyres, Winchester).
Hope this helps!
Alan
The 2.0 litres need V rating tyres as they can exceed 118mph.
I used to have Mitchelin Pilots which were brillinat and hugely expensive, and after one set of them went for the Pirelli P6000 which were 95% as good and half the price.
I've also driven on with P6 pirellis on and they were very good as well. Both the latter two tyres drop into the £60 a corner bracket.
H rated tyres are for speeds not greater than 130mph according to all I've read on the subject.
See the Wheel and tyre bible for an explanation of all the sizes and ratings etc...
Thx Andy and others ...All understood altho' it was the use of the word runout that I didnt (ansd still don't) understand as in " 88 H runout" Stuart
