Leather / 2004

Hi,

I've two questions.

Does somebody have Profile Black Leather on its Mini? Can you then give some comment on it (quality, look,...)? In fact, in Belgium, we've to take this leather interior if we want Chili pack (with is a quite interesting pack).

Second question. I will buy one next week, but I wonder if it would be worth waiting for 2004 model. Is it really true that resale value is 10% higher just because I buy it one month later (next year model). Can't believe that, but???

Thks.

Hi Oliver,

On the forum on the website

they say that MINI will start building the 2004-models at the 1st of September. I don't know which model you want to order, the One, One D, the Cooper or the Cooper S. I asked the dealer overhere (The Netherlands) when they could deliver a Cooper S. The answer: 'Planned productionweek is week 40, and then about 2 weeks extra for delivery'. So in week 42 they maybe could deliver, depending on MINI. It was possible that production of the Cooper S will be shifted further to the end of the year....

Good luck ordering, and please ask your dealer for more info about production and delivery dates. Can you post their answer here? I am very curious what the differneces are in our countries.

By the way, on the above-mentioned website there is also a very nice Gallary of pictures of the new MINI, also some nice pictures of the interior. My dealer has 3 MINI in the shop, one with cloth, and 2 half-leather. The cloth wouldn't be my choice, the leather looks much, much, much prettier. The full-leather interior is my choice. One advice, if you go for the full-leather, take also the heated seats. You won't regret that in winter-time.

Success, Robert

Hi Robert,

I've looked at the forum. My dealer told me year 2004 was for week 43.

I finally decided to buy one now (2003), delivery for week 35, don't want to wait another 2 months.

The dealer has told me that modifications for year 2004 affect only (except for the key that may change) Cooper S model. I've bought a Cooper not a Cooper S. For the Cooper S, new colors (inside and outside), new key, 3 spoke steering wheel but not immediately (can be bought on other models too, but will not be multifunction).

So, if you intend to buy a Cooper S, it's probably worth waiting, provided that you're not satisfied by actual colors.

Olivier.

they speak/write of only 1 new color for the S. Pepper white would become available for it. Rumours go that the cd-player will play MP3 in the 2004 model. That the 12v-outlet will be back in the trunk. New type of grating under the windshield. And of course the 3-spoke steering wheel and the new interior colors.

I e-mailed the dealer about it, but their MINI-specialist is on a holiday at the moment. I hope I did not order the car a week too early, I am in for the MP3-player....

Lots of fun-driving kilometers/miles after week 35!

Hi,

This is what I've seen on Mini2.

This comes from a MINI dealer. Bad news if you're waiting for MP3 support. Is it written your order??? My dealer did not tell me about this. On Mini Cooper, only the key and an optional (non multifunction) new steering wheel (but not before january 2004 or something like this).

Hello,

I've tried to compile a list on MINI2 that sums up the changes we're hearing about, it's here:

Hope that helps, feel free to add to it.

It is a written order. And the MP3-player would be nice, but for me it is not a MUST have. I certainly like the car as I ordered it. The thing is I have to wait sooooo long. And when I read about the differences in modelyear

2004, I thought maybe I am lucky and could get some extra thingies. But after that long period of waiting........163 horses are waiting to go loose on the street.... Hopelfully they don't keep me waiting much longer than October.

Good luck, Robert
