Hi all,
I do hope someone out here can help me with this as I'm not getting very far with this over here in the UK.
I have just imported a 66 coupe that has had a C6 switched in place of the C4. The previous owner installed a B&M Unimatic floor shifter in place of the stock shifter. I am wanting to get rid of this B&M shifter and reinstall an original shifter. I'm not keen on the B&M at all as it has an obscenely long neck and because of this it won't engage into P as it hits the front dashboard. Crazy. I managed to get a mint '66 floor shifter with all the bits off Ebay but it seems to be a cruisomatic shifter with a "L, large dot, small dot, N, R, P" shift pattern rather than the 1,2,D,N,R,P setup as expected. This is where I'm a little uncertain and confused.
This cruisomatic shifter appears to have a strange shift pattern.
1 - it sits in L but unlocked 2 - shifts to large green dot (main D - all 3 gears??) without having to press the button but moves easily between this, the small dot and N without and clicking/locking. This has confused me totally. 3 - the next click position is not locked - is this N ?? 4 - Next click is R which 5 - then drops into P.Do I have all this correct ?? Now the question is will this work if I link this shifter up to the C6 ??
Many thanks for any help or advice. Cheers,
Jonathan
