Fog Lights on a Mustang?

I see them for sale on Ebay for around $70.

Are they worth it? It would be nice to have the extra lighting on twisty roads at night -- *if* they actually shed enough extra light?

I installed some a while back. (The How-To is on the website in my sig) but I don't see much of an increase in light emission if (ab)used as driving lights. Now in heavy fog they do help.

If you want extra lighting, I'd check on 'real' driving lights and mount those in the foglight positions. make sure they are not 'off road use only' or you may end up with a ticket. I'm actually considering adding a set of those next to the foglights, more to the center of the bumper to get some extra light. The stock headlights on a 95 are pityful. And my lenses are clear as a bell still. Does anybody knwo if the 'Cobra' clear ones give a better light emission? If so, it may be worth the $150 for a set of those...

Could you please expand on that? What's a "real" driving light? A replacement headlight?

The kind you find at the auto parts store marked as driving light. They don't replace the headlight and if you get the correctly shaped one, they wouuld easily fit in the space where the stock foglights go.

Here's a link with some examples (picked at random via a google search, I have no connections with the domain or the products)

Fog lights are designed for one thing - fog. They make lousy driving lights. Fortunatly, there are plenty of aftermarket driving lights that can be made to fit in the factory mounts. Get the right diameter of lamp, then use your imagination and fabricate some brackets.

The PIAA 1500 fit about as close as you will get to factory. They are rectangular shaped and almost the identical proportions as the weird shaped factory fogs.
