2002 Forester L Question

I've started looking for a used vehicle and have seen a couple of 2002 Forester L and taken one for a drive. I'm interested in the 4 cylinder auto model to save gas and the one I drove seems to be fast enough for the highway.

Most of what I have looked at have about 100,000 Km on the odometer. (That's about 60,000 miles) While I don't think that is particularly high for a well made car, I want to make sure that whatever I purchase is going to be around for some time without having to do engine work. I don't have any knowledge about the Forester.

So the obvious question is how dependable are the 4 cyl engines. Good for

200,000 KM or even more? I'll probably put on about 30,000Km per year (18,000 miles)

TIA

Greg

My 2001 Forester L (manual transmission) has just over 120,000 miles (200,00 KM) on it. I just returned from a 4-week trip where I towed a

1,500 pound camper for 3500 miles. I have yet to add any motor oil between changes.
