I have a 2001 Subaru Outback, and the rear view mirror looks like it is losing fluid; it is green up to about 1/2" from the top, then it becomes clear.
Is there a cheap fix or source for this mirror? It is an auto-dimming style with a compass.

You might ask your dealership about that. It MAY have been a TSB at one time. Probably do as good or better shopping Ebay or buying from

Definitely not repairable as has been posted. The OEM dimming mirror is supplied by Donnelly, they also make them for the aftermarket so you do not have to get one from Subaru. You can take the opportunity to upgrade to a similar one with more features in addition to the compass, such as outside temperature and map lights. They are available on Ebay and elsewhere online and will directly replace your existing mirror. If you get one with the temp display you will just have to run the wire for the temp probe. Be sure to get the proper mount though, Subaru uses the "cam lock" type mount.
Thanks for all the tips!
