What causes a rear-wheel drive car to pull to the left when accelerating or cruising, and then to pull to the right when hitting the brakes?

If it is truly affected by acceleration and deceleration, it is likely that the rear axle retaining bushings are worn out - or something else is loose in the rear suspension allowing one side of the axle to "walk" back and forth. Bob Paulin - R.A.C.E. Chassis Analysis Services
