EGR issues

I could really use some help here. Got a check engine light reporting insufficient EGR flow. Replaced the EGR pressure regulator and VSV. Light came back on.

EGR tests ok. When vacuum applied at idle the engine immediately dies. That should mean all the ports are clear internally.

I was told that there is a EGR temp switch. My question is where the hell is it? Is it on the exhaust system or near the EGR valve?

The car is a 96 Corolla with a 1.6L. If you know of a really good service manual I could get for this and other issues I'd appreciate a pointer there too.

Thanks.
