77 Baja update - hazard switch needed...

I replaced the broken shaft on the steering column I got at the swap meet yesterday. Now I have the correct one in the baja with the turn signal switch and wiper/washer switch. And the steering column now locks like it should. The one out of the '71 didn't decide to lock until I was removing it and needed to turn it. Now I don't have as much of a wiring problem as I was going to have if I left the '71 column in. One more problem I forgot about. The hazard switch fell apart on me. I forgot to get one at the show. Anybody have one that works? Real cheap? PN 111 953 235 6

...................The two switches solution wouldn't get past the annual safety inspection in a lot of states. An 'offroad' baja still has to be street legal unless you're going to tow it to those 'trails'.

..............glad I could help!

Oh. Around here as long as the function works it will pass inspection. Just like the horn button being relocated like it is on so many cars including mine. There are some pretty stupid (in my opinion) emissions checks on newer cars around here like looking for original equipment stuff even if your tailpipe is spitting out less emissions (because you're running better-than-factory stuff on your car) than it would have if you were running all factory equipment, but at least they're not so strict on the basic stuff. I did say I was wondering, right? Thanks for helping, Timmy! :-)

I need to take it thru state highway patrol inspection to get a title for it so I can get tags for it so it can be driven on the road [as well as offroad]. Electrical & mechanical system must work properly... OHP inspection is a PITA. To top it off I'm not putting the baja kit on it until it passes inspection just in case they try to seize it for some reason.

put the last steering wheel on my car that I did, the turn signal> stalk/lever wouldn't fit so I removed it. I have 2 switches mounted> under the dash now for my turn signals and if I flip them both then I> have hazzard signals. It just seems weird to me that someone would> want to make a baja and use original parts for something like a> hazzard switch. Kinda like making a baja and only driving it on the> road. *horrified look* Wait a minute... You're not one of *THOSE*> are you!?!?!? :-O>
